Workers Fear Being Replaced By AI

BNN Bloomberg July 19th, 2023

Jennifer Moss, an international speaker, journalist, and author of The Burnout Epidemic, joins BNN Bloomberg’s The Open live in the studio to discuss workplace trends and the risks amid employees living in a post-pandemic world.

In this interview, she talks about mass layoffs, workers’ fears of being replaced by AI, and how TikTok trends are affecting the workplace. More specifically, Jennifer touches on:

  • Current wave of layoffs in the tech sector and their impact on employee mental health

  • How AI is changing the workplace – including how GenZ is embracing AI, and the risks to companies that are slow to adopt AI in the workplace

  • From #QuitTok and #RageApplying—how viral social trends are changing workers' behaviors

Jennifer notes that these types of worker fears around obsolescence aren’t new, and are part of an ongoing cycle as new technologies emerge. She talks about how employers can help to mitigate those fears through clear communication with their workforce.

The Open puts a spotlight on the stocks and stories expected to move the markets, then switches to minute-by-minute coverage throughout the trading day in Canada and the U.S. BNN Bloomberg's team of reporters and expert guests provide comprehensive reporting along with the best background and analysis in the business.
